How to Draw a Cat? Step-by-Step Tutorial!
Do you want to learn how to draw a kitten? You’ve come to the right place! Below you’ll find a tutorial on how to draw a cat that other kids will admire. We’ve divided the drawing into 12 easy steps. Do them one by one, and you’ll definitely achieve the desired effect. Do you have a card and a pencil ready? So let’s get started!
Step 1
We’ll begin the cat drawing with its head.
Notice the characteristic curves on both sides about halfway down its height.

Step 2
Next, draw the cat’s ears.
Make them large enough for our kitty to hear everything clearly.

Step 3
Now, add the eyes and eyebrows.
Position the eyes roughly in the middle of the head, with the eyebrows slightly above them.

Step 4
The next feature to include is the nose.
You can draw it as a slightly flattened circle or even a rounded triangle.
Underneath, sketch two curved lines extending outward.

Step 5
In this step, draw a small tongue below the nose.
Then, add three distinct dots on each side of the nose.

Step 6
Every cat needs whiskers!
We’ve drawn three on each side of the face, but feel free to extend or adjust them to give your cat a unique style.
Did you know cat whiskers are also called vibrissae?

Step 7
With the head complete, it’s time to sketch the body.
Start with the back and one of the hind legs.

Step 8
Next, add a front paw.
Don’t worry if there’s a gap between the front and back legs — we’ll connect them soon.

Step 9
Now, link the two legs and draw the cat’s claws.
The drawing is starting to look more and more like a real cat!

Step 10
Let’s sketch the torso using two curved lines.
The farther apart they are, the rounder the cat’s body will appear.

Step 11
The cat’s other front paw should also be visible.
Draw it so that it touches the first paw.
You’re almost done – the drawing will be complete soon!

Step 12
The final touch is the cat’s tail.
Ours is thick and of medium length, but feel free to adjust its shape and size to suit your preferences.

And there you have it! Your drawing of a cat is complete!
Now you know how to draw a cat yourself.
Do you like it? I hope so.
However, if something went wrong, you can try drawing again.
Learning to draw requires patience and a lot of practice.
Remember that each subsequent drawing is usually better than the previous one.
And the next drawing lesson for children is coming soon!
